Moving off the grid

With South Africa’s energy infrastructure under severe strain, people around the country are considering alternative methods and working hard to reduce their carbon footprints.

Many farms and large plots of land have already removed themselves from the Eskom’s grid by making use of solar power and wind turbines to supply their demands.

Of course the cost of such an exercise is hefty, however it is recouped within 5 years as your electricity bill essentially disappears. Obviously this is not the most practical solution for everyone, which has led people to resort to generators for those desperate moments.

Small things like switching off your geyser and lights can make a huge difference.
